According to the counterfeiters of the “Black Workshop”, the raw material phenformin used in it was purchased from Shandong Qufu Medson Fine Chemical Co., Ltd., and the police arrested the chemical company’s legal representative Yan Jun and other 4 criminals. suspects.
So far, this case has arrested 75 criminal suspects, 1 chemical factory suspected of illegal business operations, destroyed 22 black dens and black factories, 4 counterfeit production lines, 27 production equipment, and seized 150,000 boxes of toxic and harmful food. 13,000 kilograms of chemical raw materials, with a value of 1.2 billion yuan involved.

The four defendants, including the legal representative Yan Jun, were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from 3 to 10 years and fined.
The Paper noted that in the first-instance judgment, the determination opinion issued by the Hebei Food and Drug Administration became a strong evidence for the court’s determination that Madsen produced and sold counterfeit drugs.
According to the verdict, the product samples of Madsen Company seized by the police were found to be phenformin hydrochloride and metformin hydrochloride components by the Hebei Institute for Drug Inspection. The Hebei Food and Drug Administration issued a confirmation opinion that the product contained chemical ingredients, and Madsen had not obtained the approval of the drug regulatory authority and the drug approval number, so it was treated as a fake drug.
